How to choose a podcast studio in Fort Lauderdale

By the team at The Cast Studio · Updated · 8 min read

In short

Choose a podcast studio in Fort Lauderdale by what you leave with, not by the hourly rate: who runs the cameras, how many angles you get, when the files arrive and whether editing is included. Then check the booking rules, the sets and the drive. A studio tour answers most of this before you pay.

Fort Lauderdale and the rest of South Florida have many rooms that call themselves podcast studios, from self-serve booths to crewed sets with editing included. The hourly price is the easiest thing to compare and the least useful. This guide lists what actually changes the result, with examples from studio websites checked on October 3, 2026.

What matters most when you choose a podcast studio?

What matters most is what you walk out with: who ran the session, how many angles were recorded, when you get the files and whether someone edits them. Price only makes sense once those are equal. Use this checklist on every studio you consider:

What to compareWhat to askWhy it matters
Who runs the sessionSelf-serve, a technician or a full crew?Decides whether you watch the gear or the conversation
Camera anglesHow many, and who switches them? One angle suits a solo video; conversations need more
AudioWhich microphones, and who monitors the levels?Viewers forgive soft video before bad sound
SetsWhich looks, and can I see them on camera? The set is your show's identity for every episode
FilesWhen do raw files arrive, and for how long are they stored?Your editor's schedule depends on it
EditingIncluded, an add-on, or not offered?Often the biggest cost after studio time

LocationHow long is the drive at my recording time?Guests arrive late or tired after a long drive

Should you pick a self-serve room or a studio with a crew?

Pick a self-serve room if you are comfortable running microphones and cameras yourself, and a crewed studio if you want to focus on the conversation. The price gap reflects the people in the room, not just the equipment.

As listed on their websites on October 3, 2026, Invictus in Deerfield Beach offered self-service access around the clock at $75 per hour plus tax, and Klip listed its three-camera room at $169 per hour self-serve or $239 per hour with a technician switching cameras live. At the crewed end, FGA in Miami listed $149 per hour with an engineer and light editing, and Epic in Fort Lauderdale listed $250 per hour with three 4K cameras and a technician.

At The Cast Studio, every published package includes a technician or a crew. Studio Essentials at $199 per hour records one cinematic 4K angle with an on-site tech assist for setup, start and stop and basic monitoring. Studio Recording at $250 per hour puts a full crew on cameras, lighting and audio, with three 4K angles. The prices and packages page compares all three packages line by line.

How many camera angles do you need?

You need one angle for a solo talking-head video and three for a conversation between two people; panels need more. With three angles, a wide shot shows the whole table and a close-up stays on each speaker, so an editor can cut to whoever is talking and the video keeps moving.

Ask who switches the angles. Some studios switch live during the recording, others hand you every angle as a separate file for your editor. At The Cast Studio, Studio Essentials records one angle, the two Studio Recording packages record three, and the system has inputs for up to five camera angles and room for two more microphones, added for an extra fee. The video podcast studio page explains the setup, and our guide to podcast camera setup covers framing and angles in more detail.

How do you judge the sets and the look?

Judge a set by how it looks through the camera, not in a wide photo of the room. A sofa that feels cozy in person can look low and deep on video, and a busy wall can fight with your clothes. Ask for a frame from a real session on the set you are considering, or take a tour and ask to see the framing on a monitor.

Match the set to the format. A round table suits panels and group shows, armchairs suit one-on-one interviews, a sofa suits relaxed conversations, and a strong color wall suits personality-driven shows. Our guide to podcast background ideas shows how each look works on camera. Studios in the region publish very different ranges: on October 3, 2026, Grove in Miami listed five art-directed sets and The Chat Room in Miami Beach listed nine.

A white sofa in front of the LED wall, made for stylish and relaxed podcast conversations.

The Cast Studio has six sets: leather armchairs, a white sofa, a dark minimal set, a round table, a sofa in front of an LED wall and a retro-pop set with an orange gallery wall. Every set works with every package. You can compare them on the six sets page.

What should you ask about files and editing?

Ask when the raw files arrive, how they are delivered and how long the studio keeps them, then ask what editing costs. If the answer is vague, you may wait days for your footage or pay for an edit you assumed was included.

Editing policies differ more than prices do. On October 3, 2026, Echo Studios in Boca Raton included a multicam podcast edit when you book two hours or more, FGA included light editing in its hourly rate, and The AV Club listed basic editing at $75.

At The Cast Studio, raw files are delivered within 24 hours with the Studio Recording packages and stored for 14 days, or 30 days with Enhanced Edit. The published Studio Essentials package does not list a delivery time, so ask when you book. Studio Recording + Enhanced Edit at $455 per hour adds a 4K multicam edit with mastered audio, your logo, lower thirds and name titles.

Which booking rules change the real price?

Minimum session length, deposits and rescheduling rules change the real price more than a $20 difference in the hourly rate. Read them before you compare numbers.

On October 3, 2026, Podcast HQ, Grove and CPG all listed sessions of two hours or more, so a low hourly rate can cost more than a higher rate for one hour. At The Cast Studio a non-refundable deposit secures the booking, rescheduling must be requested at least 72 hours before the session, full payment is due before the session starts, and the tour is free and optional. The other extras to budget for, with examples of minimums and first-visit fees at other studios, are in our guide to how much it costs to rent a podcast studio in Fort Lauderdale.

Does the studio's location matter?

Yes, because your guests have to get there on time and in a good mood. Check the drive at the hour you plan to record, not at night, and ask whether there is a train or airport nearby for guests coming from farther away.

The Cast Studio is at 801 NE 2nd Ave, Ste 120, Fort Lauderdale. Driving times without traffic, measured with OpenStreetMap routing on October 3, 2026:

FromDistanceDrive without traffic
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)9 milesabout 17 minutes

Aventura16 milesabout 25 minutes
Boca Raton19 milesabout 27 minutes
Downtown Miami29 milesabout 41 minutes
Miami Beach32 milesabout 48 minutes

Rush hour on I-95 takes longer. The Brightline Fort Lauderdale station is about a 19-minute walk or a 3-minute drive from the studio, so the train is an option for guests coming from farther away; check its schedule before you travel. More cities are on the directions and travel times page.

When is The Cast Studio not the right fit?

The Cast Studio is built for podcasts and video, so it is not the right fit if you only need a self-serve audio room for under $100 per hour. Its published packages cover podcast and video recording in its own studio, with a tech assist or a full crew, so ask first if you need something else, such as music recording or filming at your own office.

It is a good fit when you want the session handled for you: a crew on the cameras and the sound, three 4K angles, one of six designed sets, and raw files within 24 hours or a finished multicam edit.

What should you ask any studio before you pay?

Send the same questions to every studio you are considering and compare the answers side by side:

  1. Who will be in the room during my session, and what do they handle?
  2. How many camera angles do I get, and are they switched live or delivered separately?
  3. Which microphones are used, and how many people can be miked?
  4. When do I get the raw files, in what format, and how long are they stored?
  5. Is editing included? If not, what does it cost per episode?
  6. What is the minimum booking, and does setup time count against it?
  7. What are the deposit, cancellation and rescheduling rules?
  8. Can I see the set on camera before I book?

Once you have picked a studio, our first podcast recording checklist covers what to prepare before your first session.

Frequently asked questions

What should I look for in a podcast studio?

Compare five things before the price: who runs the session (you, a technician or a full crew), how many camera angles you get, when and how the files arrive, whether editing is included, and the booking rules such as minimum hours, deposits and rescheduling. Two studios with the same hourly rate can deliver very different results.

Is a self-serve podcast studio a good choice?

A self-serve room suits audio-only shows and people who already know how to set levels and run cameras. If you want several angles switched cleanly and would rather not watch the equipment while you talk, a studio with a technician or a crew is worth the higher hourly rate.

How many cameras does a video podcast need?

One camera is enough for a solo talking-head video. For a conversation between two people, three angles (a wide shot and a close-up of each speaker) let an editor cut between them, which keeps it watchable. Larger panels can use more angles: The Cast Studio has inputs for up to five, added for a fee.

Should I tour a podcast studio before booking?

Yes, if you can. A tour lets you judge the sets and the room in person and see how long the drive takes, and you can ask about minimums and file delivery face to face. Studios handle tours differently: The Cast Studio's tour is free, while Invictus listed a one-time $50 guided tour before the first recording on October 3, 2026.

How far is The Cast Studio from Miami and Boca Raton?

The studio is at 801 NE 2nd Ave, Ste 120, Fort Lauderdale. Without traffic, the drive takes about 41 minutes from Downtown Miami and about 27 minutes from Boca Raton, measured with OpenStreetMap routing on October 3, 2026. Rush hour on I-95 takes longer. The Brightline Fort Lauderdale station is about a 19-minute walk away.
